Seattle LEED User Group: Material Series - Part 1

Wednesday, March 19, 2014 - 6:00pm to 8:00pm PDT
221 Yale Avenue N. Suite 400 Seattle, WA
The Seattle LEED User Group (SLUG) of the Cascadia Green Building Council invites you to join in a learning opportunity on the rollout of LEED v4. This event is the first in a series that will focus on the way green building rating systems evaluate sustainable building materials. From Life Cycle Assessment, Environmental Product Declarations to Health Product Declarations, the world’s leading green building rating systems are changing the way we look at building materials. In part one of the series we will review two of the new materials credits in the LEED v4 rating system: Building Product Disclosure and Optimization - Environmental Product Declarations and Building Product Disclosure and Optimization - Material Ingredients.
Our guest speaker, James Connelly, manages Declare and materials research for the Living Building Challenge program at the International Living Future Institute. James will discuss how Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and Health Product Declaration’s (HPDs) work and the major differences are between them.
There is a growing movement for transparency in building products which is helping to drive transformation in the materials marketplace. This event will demonstrate how designers can get ahead of the curve and take advantage of these new tools to build healthier buildings with less environmental impact.
