Creative Collaboration Course

Course Overview:
This course is ideal for individuals who work in teams for idea generation, problem solving and design and offers practical advice and exercises on how to increase both personal creativity, and the creative output of teams. This course is provided by the University of British Columbia. The theories and exercises can be applied to anything from creating a company human resources policy, to brainstorming new product and service offerings, to the conception of complex projects involving multiple disciplines. Expect to learn:
  •    Facilitation skills and techniques
  •    How to create an environment that promotes creativity
  •    Brainstorming, and how to trigger new ideas
This course has a focus on sustainability but crosses the boundaries of discipline and industry.
Brenda Martens - B.Sc., LEED Fellow, has worked in the building industry for over 20 years. She is a practitioner, educator and advocate in the field of green building and sustainability. She owns and operates ædify, providing LEED consulting services, mentoring and education. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Cascadia Green Building Council, is faculty with the Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC) and is a co-founder of Recollective Consulting and the Open Green Building Society, an organization that open sources information about green buildings. Brenda's work experience encompasses residential, institutional, commercial and industrial projects throughout British Columbia, including the Vancouver and Whistler Athletes' Villages, the Okanagan College Centre of Excellence (a Living Building Challenge candidate), and over 20 BC Housing projects across the province. She is deeply involved with the CaGBC and has served the community as co-chair of the Site and Water Technical Advisory Group (TAG); LEED Canada Steering Committee member; and the City of Vancouver Green Building Strategy Committee member.
