Connecticut Collaborative Kick-Off

Living Building Challenge Collaborative:Connecticut is a community-based, in-person group of Living Building Challenge enthusiasts that provides an opportunity for informal learning experiences and advances community transformation. Collaborative members create the local conditions that allow for development of Living Buildings, Sites and Neighborhoods. 
The Collaborative Kick-Off will feature the Introduction to the Living Building Challenge presentation by local Ambassador Presenter, James Santana.

James Santana, LEED AP BD+C (Yale MEM ‘14) is a Living Building Challenge Ambassador. Prior to Yale, he worked to develop the award-winning mixed-use neighborhood, Pringle Creek Community, renovating an 80-year-old industrial paint shop into Oregon’s first commercial Net Zero Energy Building and Petal-certified LBC. 
Collaborative Facilitators:

Aaron Smith, LEED AP BD+C, is the Director of Sustainable Building Solutions for ASSA ABLOY Door Security Solutions. He is responsible for maximizing business opportunities for ASSA ABLOY products that deliver energy efficiency and sustainability for green buildings. Aaron also oversees his company’s Global Environmental Product and Health Product Declaration program driving life cycle assessment and product transparency across the organization. He also serves as the manufacturer representative and board treasurer for the Health Product Declaration Collaborative.  Aaron is also on the Board of Trustees for Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center in Finland, MN. 

Nora Rizzo, LEED AP BD+C, EDAC, GPRO:CM, is a Certified Sustainability Manager with the Fusco Corporation.  She is an Ambassador and a Facilitator of the Connecticut Living Building Challenge Collaborative.  Nora has achieved LEED or High Performance certification on over 20 projects, most recently the LEED Gold Fairchild Wheeler Interdistrict Magnet Campus in Bridgeport, CT and the LEED Gold Armed Forces Reserve Center in Danbury, CT.  She is responsible for all sustainability initiatives within Fusco’s Construction and Real Estate Divisions.  Fusco is celebrating its 90th year as a leader in the Commercial Building Industry and was recently named the CT Green Builder of the year.
