This month’s UnMeeting will feature a discussion from multiple perspectives of the building industry. With a focus on affordable housing we will discuss design, the life of the building, and the residents who live there. We will have talks from Architecture, Facilities Management, and Resident Services. Each will explain their involvement in affordable housing and their relation to the building and sustainability. Phoenix | Sonoran Collaborative: What Phoenix is learning from Vancouver

Working towards a regenerative future involves creating a more holistic approach to our urban environment and City officials are taking the initiative.  We will hear from Mark Hartman, Chief Sustainability Officer with the City of Phoenix, on Vancouver's Greenest City Action Plan approach that originated in 2009 and Phoenix's own local initiatives.

Eugene | FREE Tour - New Residence Hall at University of Oregon

Mahlum Architects designed this exceptional student housing project, which is seeking LEED Gold Certification and features solar access to accommodate the ceremonial needs of the adjacent Many Nations Longhouse directly to the north of the site.U of O worked closely with representatives of the tribal community and nationally known architect and UO alumnus Johnpaul Jones, who designed the Many Nations Longhouse, in ensuring the site is compatible with cultural traditions and tribal ceremonies.
