Audit Process

Auditors assist the International Living Future Institute by performing an independent, third party audit of projects that have submitted documentation for certification under one of three certification options. All Auditors are required to attend an auditor training session prior to being assigned to a project. Institute staff organizes and hosts the training on an annual basis.

Auditors are responsible for reviewing all documentation submitted by the project team, performing an onsite review of the project and completing an auditor report making a recommendation to the Institute for certification. Once a project team is notified of its certification determination, an appeal may be requested. In this instance, the Institute may ask the Auditor to provide further review, or in some instances, engage a second auditor to perform the review necessary for the appeal.
